Setting Your Holiday Table

I can't believe that Thanksgiving is this week already! In addition to cooking (I'm really looking forward to make this cranberry dish from Homemaker's Habitat) I also love setting the table for the big meal. It is such a treat for us to get together with Travis's family in Omaha since we only get to see them a few times a year, and I want it to be a special meal.

The beauty of Thanksgiving is that the food is so colorful and does a nice job of dressing up a table all on it's own. I have selected some pieces that don't compete with the rich hues of the food, but rather accentuate it. The mix of woven straw, linen and wood lends a rustic chic look to the table that fits our gathering. I incorporate some visual interest with the the teal found on the ends of the spoons, the bud vases in winter hues and the napkins block printed with metallic ink. Simply set the table, light a few unscented candles and add a few sprigs of fresh herbs to the bud vases and you have a table setting perfect for all your holiday gatherings.
